The CraftStar…The Place To Be To Sell Your Handmade Items

The Girl From The 6ix

I used to be an Etsy member for a few years and never got the attention that someone should get for their hard work. For example, I only was put on ONE treasury list of theirs and never got the recognition for being a newbie when I first started.  So I figured that I needed to find some other website that I could sell my handmade items. After all, they do need to be recognized.  That’s when I found The CraftStar.

What caught my eye with the CraftStar was their membership fee, it’s only 5$ and unlimited  listings! It was the unlimited listings that caught my eye. On Etsy I’d be paying .20 cents each time I would list an item and after 4 months, you would have to pay the .20 cents for each items that don’t sell. And same thing goes for any items that you RE-LIST. I…

Bullies Will Always Be Bullies…A Personal Story

I re-blogged my article about bullying to share my story. This is a very important topic which has affected our teens worse now in this generation.

The Girl From The 6ix

I have used the initials of the bullies in this article because they don’t deserve to have recognition, praise or be famous for what they did to me.  After all, they already had their fame in high school. And we’ll leave it at that.

This is written for people who have been bullied and I believe in fighting for what’s right.

It has taken me some time to have the courage to write about this, since it was a difficult time in my life, socially.  Being bullied does not fall far too behind  being diagnosed with Lupus at age 16, that rates #1, as the worse time in my life, next to having a stroke. But that’s another story.

Since then, I have tried really hard to ward all of these demons, but somehow, when you’re traumatized as a kid it affects the rest of your life.  And…

“The Charmed Heart”

Polymer Clay Heart in Fuchsia Pink

Polymer Clay Heart in Fuchsia Pink

The Girl From The 6ix

Hello everyone!

Remember the two hearts that I had mentioned I was working on Wednesday?. Well, I have finished them and they’re all set to sell in my store The CraftShop !  I could not have been more pleased on how they turned out!

I’ve turned the heart pendants into rings which have a charm hanging over one side. Rather than using the hole to just hang a boring chain, I decided to hang charms & then attaching the silver pendant heart (2.4×2.5cm) to a silver plated, adjustable ring.    The charms are two 4mm size round beads; one in fuchsia & the other, a glass pearl in Sea Foam color. The list of the materials I used are mentioned in yesterday’s post.

After making this…I’am now addicted!

I have always liked to paint & color since I was a child and now that I have 98% of the feeling in…

The CraftStar…The Place To Be To Sell Your Handmade Items

And same thing goes for any items that you RE-LIST. I just couldn’t keep up with it. That’s why I like CraftStar, hassle free, just remember to pay your 5$ each month J

Going back to being acknowledged for hard work.  After signing up for The CraftStar, I noticed that ALL of my 20 items were being tweeted from the @thecraftstar twitter page! Unbelievable, my phone was pinging constantly in notification.   I admire and appreciate the people who take the time and effort to support us crafters, even one of my items put on their Facebook page. Now, just to let you know, that doesn’t happen all the time. I really haven’t added any more new product since. But I’m sure that when I do, it will get noticed.

I have to thank Bethan Davis from The CraftStar who has some opportunities for my product to be presented in their blog.

Here are some of her articles that feature KikiLime Designs:

The CraftStar has been a great place to start, so far I haven’t sold anything yet, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. But I will get there.

Thank You CraftStar!

The Magic of the Extruder Tool & Polymer Clay

The Girl From The 6ix

I love this polymer clay method!  Using a mix of different colors pushed through an extruder you will come out with an array of different shapes & colors resulting in beautiful combinations of color.

I have used this method & what’s fun about it, is the anticipation of the outcome, what will the colors end up looking like?

Here’s an example of my jewelry using the extruder & a mix of grey, turquoise, white, purple, fuchsia & lime green. I made a ring, cuff bracelet & necklace. I’m not an expert yet , but I don’t think I did a bad job.

The best kind of extruder is the Makins Extruder, it has a better handle so you can twist instead of pushing the clay through. It’s less stress on your hands.

Below is an example of the Makins Extruder Gun which I found on http://craftygoat.com/2008/05/
